A52 Bottesford to Barrowby - Roadworks

AMScott are the Managing Agent Contractor for the Highways Agency in Area 7 covering the motorway and trunk road network in the East Midlands.

We wish to inform you about forthcoming road works on the A52 between Bottesford and Barrowby.

These essential works will include:

• Resurfacing and part reconstruction of the A52 carriageway
• Repairs to the concrete carriageway at Bottesford
• Traffic signing & lining improvements
• Streetlighting maintenance works

The works are currently programmed to start on Monday 21st July 2008 and are due to finish early-October 2008. For the safety of motorists and road workers it will be necessary to fully close the A52 overnight at various times and over seven weekends. Overnight lane closures with temporary traffic signals and convoy working will also be required.

Overnight full road closures will be installed between 20:00hrs - 06:00hrs Saturday to Thursday and 22.00 – 06.00hrs Friday.
Full weekend closures will be installed between 22:00hrs Friday to 06:00hrs Monday on 1st to 4th, 8th to 11th August, 29th August to 1st September, 5th to 8th, 19th to 22nd and 26th to 29th September and 3rd to 6th October.

The A52 will be closed to through traffic between Saxondale Island (A52/A46) and the Barrowby Junction (A52/A1). Access to the A52 will be maintained for local traffic from Saxondale Island. Access to Barrowby Village will be maintained from the A1 and from the A52 (westbound from Grantham). There will be no access through the works area between Muston and the Barrowby Junction or between Tithby Road and Grantham Road at Bingham. Refer to drawing no. E053105/LP/06 for further details of full road closures.

The following diversions will be in place for A52 through traffic, refer to drawing no. E053105/LP/05.

A1 Northbound

Traffic on the A1(T) Northbound wishing to exit onto the A52(T) at Barrowby will be diverted along the A1(T) until the A1/A17/A46 Junction at Newark where traffic will proceed along the A46(T) Southbound until Saxondale Island where the diversion ends.

A1 Southbound

Traffic on the A1(T) Southbound north of Newark wishing to exit onto the A52(T) at Barrowby will be diverted onto the A46(T) via the A1/A17/A46 Junction and will proceed to Saxondale Island where the diversion ends. Traffic on the A1(T) Southbound south of Newark will travel along the A1(T) until the Harlaxton (A607) junction where they will exit and re-join the A1(T) Northbound joining the A1 Northbound diversion route detailed on previous page.

A52/A46 Saxondale Island

Traffic at Saxondale Island (any approach) wishing to continue on the A52(T) Eastbound towards Grantham will be diverted via the A46(T) Northbound until the A1/A17/A46 Junction at Newark where they will be diverted onto the A1(T) Southbound and exit at A52/A1 Junction at Barrowby.

Traffic wishing to travel from Grantham to Nottingham via the A52(T) Westbound will be diverted onto the A1(T) Northbound and join the A1 Northbound diversion detailed on previous page.

Some noise disruption should be expected for residents within the vicinity of the works, although we will do all we can to keep this to a minimum.
We have consulted the local highway authorities, the Environmental Health Officer and the emergency services to help minimise the impact of these essential works.
