Premier buses now run a service from Bottesford to Nottingham.
The experiences of a user.
Since the changes to the Premier bus timetable in September so that the service went straight through to Nottingham I have been using the number 55/R1 (6:42am) to get to work Monday - Friday. Currently I am the only person catching this regularly from Bottesford.
Anybody remember the early morning Centre bus mainly driven by Sid? The current service is as good as that one
What are the main benefits/drawbacks against the train?
* Comfort - not as comfortable as the train but its never crowded.
* Time travelling. If you can read/sleep/listen to music on the bus its not a drawback.
* Reliability - bus reliability has proven pretty good so far.
* Times - Last bus back to Bottesford during the week is 5:25pm from outside the Broadmarsh which won't suit a lot of people.
Cost to get to Nottingham and back?
--> Daily adult return ticket 4-70
--> County Plus Weekly (7 day) ticket allowing unlimited travel on the Premier bus network is 17 pounds. This ticket is transferable, so my daughter used it to get to Nottingham on the Saturday. Also an adult can take 2 under 16s for free on that ticket though I haven't tested that.
--> Red Card (pay by Direct Debit 10 pounds a week). This allows unlimited travel on the Premier bus network. I am in the process of switching to one of these tickets. You would need a photo for this. I went to the Premier Sales office at the bus depot on Meadow Lane opposite the Notts. County ground to sign up.
