Cold Calling

Cold-callers allegedly working for a charity are today reported as targetting Long Clawson.  All residents of the Belvoir Neighbourhood are advised to simply refuse to deal with cold callers.  This removes the question of whether any identity documents offered by the caller are genuine (most are very easily fabricated), and ensures that no personal information is given to the unknown caller (e.g. bank details in a direct debit mandate which can easily be misused by an unscrupulous person), or that the caller is able to gain access to the house.  If a resident wishes to make a donation to a charity there are other, safer, more reliable means of doing so than passing money or bank details to a cold-caller.   Recently, hardly a week has gone by without an incident arising from cold callers being reported to the police in this Neighbourhood.  Please take care; just send them away.
