Prowlers in Bottesford

Within the last two weeks Leicestershire Constabulary have received a number of reports of night-time prowlers in Bottesford. The most recent have been:

1 Damage to a car left secure overnight in Barkestone Lane - a door was forced open but nothing stolen. The incident occurred between midnight Tuesday and 8 am on Wednesday.

2 At around 3 am today in the St Mary's Close/Beckingthorpe Drive area of Bottesford, a prowler was seen peering into cars and gardens along Beckingthorpe Drive and down St Mary’s Close. No damage or thefts have been reported but the behaviour was very suspicious, and was reported to the police.

Our police are very concerned about this night-time activity and ask any resident seeing a prowler behaving in such a suspicious manner at night, to phone 999 immediately, while the person is still around.

Thefts at Belvoir High School

At about 13.30 today (Thursday, 12 Feb) a white Astra-type van entered Belvoir High School new building site in Bottesford. The males in the van, who were wearing high visibility jackets, broke into two works vehicles and stole power tools and a jacket. The Astra-type van then went to the main school car park where a third vehicle was attacked, damaging the door lock and stealing a silver-coloured laptop computer. The culprits then sped off towards the village.

If anyone saw the incident(s) or has any other relevant information, please call Leicestershire Constabulary on 0116 222 2222, referring to Incident Number 357 of 12 Feb.
