Scam

Beware of possible scam.  A parishioner has alerted us to a most probable scam letter from 'Free Lotto' - based in the USA.  The statement in the letter that the recipient had won US$1M without entering the lotto was the bait to provide more personal information to 'Free Lotto'.  Fortunately the person passed the letter to NHW & the police.  Ask yourself: if there was no payment to enter the lotto, how does the organisation get the money to pay the 'winners'?

Suspicious

A small white van, reg no similar to YE 53 TRV, has been reported by Harby NHW as driving round streets several times.   A young white man from it, unshaven but looking quite smart, then went straight to a bungalow.  When challenged he said he was trying to sell an alarm that sticks on the window. The van has since been seen in other parts of the Vale.  If you see the van in suspicious circumstances, please inform Leicestershire Constabulary on 0116 222 2222.

Please do not buy from cold callers.  Report any suspicious persons/vehicles to the police
.

Lost Parrot

A parrot escaped at 9.30am today from the Riverside area of Bottesford.  He is a Quaker parrot, sometimes called a Monk parakeet.  He has a blue/green back with a grey front.  He is small, and measures 11 inches from beak to tip of tail.  He is about the size of a blackbird.  He is very tame and wouldn't hurt anyone.  His name is Sparky and he is very tame.  He will jump onto a hand if it is offered.  Sparky must be very hungry by now.   If anyone sees him, would they please phone his owner on 01949 844056 - or call at the house, 3 Riverside Close.
