A Due
to the rise in scrap metal prices, thefts of metal
such as farm equipment, lighting conductors and
lead are on the increase. Within the last
week or so there have been a number of
attacks/forceful entry of farms and similar
establishments within the Belvoir Neighbourhood,
including in the Vale villages, and
significant quantities of metal stolen.
Whilst a considerable number of other items were
stolen in the burglaries, it is believed that the
prime objective of the thieves was the metal.
Would all residents please report any
suspicious persons or vehicles seen in the area of
farms, factories, phone masts or churches. Please
call in your suspicions immediately on 999 if you
suspect a crime may be in progress.
Otherwise, call 0116 222 2222 for reporting such suspicious incidents, or alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
B There have also been reports of strangers in small vans and cars cruising slowly through some of the Bottesford Parish streets and asking for scrap metal or offering to do roofing work. Please treat all of these people with caution and report details of all associated vehicles, and descriptions of such people, to the police and your local NHW Coordinator.
