Cold Calling

On 23 April I issued an alert on Marshalls Landscapes Ltd (see 1 below).

I have now received information from a resident who has spoken with "a couple of people who have had work done by Marshalls (in Bottesford) and it is of very poor quality. One drive ...noticed in particular ..... was an appalling job. To be fair Marshalls have said they will re-do it".

However, residents who may be thinking of giving any work to Marshalls Landscapes Ltd will wish to take this into consideration.

1 Alert of 23 April
Some residents are already aware that Marshalls Landscapes Ltd (of Coalville) are canvassing for work in the Bottesford area.

Marshalls have made themselves known to the police in Bottesford and I have spoken with a Mr Connors of the firm. We are satisfied that they are a registered company but as they only incorporated in February this year, there is no history to report. However, they are cold calling and should be treated as any other cold callers. Remember, NEVER sign for anything on the doorstep. ALWAYS give yourself time to make further enquiries and obtain competitive prices before agreeing to anything.

Marshalls have told me that they will respect the No Cold-Calling signs, whether they are street signs or the stickers on doors/windows. Where signs or stickers exist they may simply post a leaflet without knocking.

If any resident is harassed by them please call me immediately on 07803 869843 or the Police on 0116 222 2222.

Theft of metal in Bottesford

The thefts of scrap metal continue.

Today, roughly at noon, two white males (aged 20 - 30) stole a number of rails and other railway hardware from the verge adjacent to the Normanton Road railway crossing at Bottesford. The very large items were taken away in a purple/maroon coloured Ford Transit van, registration FX54YVJ. The rails etc were the property of Network Rail who have been working on the track on this area.

Leicestershire Constabulary asks anyone who sees that van to contact the police immediately on 0116 222 2222, or 999 if a crime is being committed at that time. Be very much aware: these men are very strong.

White Van

The small white van (possibly Ford), registration S912 SWF, which featured in the incidents reported by Harby NHW yesterday (see below), was also reported in the Long Clawson area yesterday evening. The Police are anxious to know the whereabouts of this vehicle which could be present anywhere in the Neighbourhood, so all residents are asked to keep a sharp lookout for it. If seen, please report it's location to the police immediately on 0116 222 2222 (attention PC 210, Mark Longden). Of course, if a crime is in progress, call 999.
