Scam
Can you circulate this around especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office and the police are making people aware of the following scam:
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.
If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call. If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or ICSTIS (the premium rate service regulator) - now called PhonepayPlus - at www.icstis.org.uk

Scam
11/07/07 13:20
Beware of possible scam. A parishioner has
alerted us to a most probable scam letter from
'Free Lotto' - based in the USA. The
statement in the letter that the recipient had won
US$1M without entering the lotto was the bait
to provide more personal information to 'Free
Lotto'. Fortunately the person passed the
letter to NHW & the police. Ask yourself:
if there was no payment to enter the
lotto, how does the organisation get the money
to pay the 'winners'?

On
Behalf of Leicestershire Constabulary
Most of you will be aware by now of the discovery of what appears to be a viable device in London during the early hours of Friday June 29.
There is nothing to suggest that Friday morning's discovery is in any way connected to Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland. However it is inevitable that this incident will generate considerable public concern across the country.
Our priority at this stage is to maintain community confidence and safety. To this end there will be increased police activity at a number of high-profile locations such as shopping centres and the city centre today and over the weekend.
It goes without saying that everyone should remain extra vigilant and report any suspicions immediately.
You can also make a real difference by helping to allay people's concerns when you're out and about.

Theft from Cars and Vans
16/05/07 13:02
The police
have a today again emphasised
the risk of thefts from cars/vans
in the
Belvoir Neighbourhood and
adjacent areas. More police warning
signs are being displayed on roads in the
area in the hope that residents and visitors
alike will remove all objects from sight in their
cars/vans before locking and leaving their
vehicles. The police ask all of us to remain
vigilant, particularly throughout the summer, to
take good care of our possessions, and to report
all suspicious activities and vehicles.
Please contact Leicestershire Constabulary on 0116
222 2222 with any relevant information, and also
inform your local NHW Coordinator. Our
concerted assistance is invaluable to the
police.
