Items stolen have included good quality garden furniture, planters and even plants, in addition to breaks into cars for whatever may be hidden inside.  Please take all reasonable care of your property. As most of these crimes are thought to be opportunist, why not consider fastening garden furniture to the ground? Police ask that all residents remain vigilant for any suspicious activity around churches and record descriptions, including registration mark, of any associated vehicles. The aim has been to enable that Station to be opened reliably and consistently on three days of the week, to facilitate the interaction and flow of information between the Community and the Police. They then entered the premises turned on all the downstairs taps, searched cupboards and took a metal box that contained money.  They then left.<br /><br />The victim who is 90 years of age and deaf was very upset by their actions and unfortunately unable to give any description of the offenders.  A neighbour realised something was amiss reported the matter to the police.<br /><br />The metal box has since been recovered minus the money.<br /><br />A similar offence occurred that day in Lincolnshire, mention being made of an explosion to an elderly couple.<br /><br /><span style="font-size:13px; font-weight:bold; ">POLICE ADVICE;<br /></span>1  Don't let anyone inot your home without checking their identity first.<br /><br />2 Put the chain on before opening the door.<br /><br />3 Don't accept a story at face value.  Alway check, should they say they are from the Water Board, Gas or Electric ring the company to check.  Ring the number in the phone book not the one they give you.  If they are genuine they will not mind waiting whilst you do this.<br /><br />4 Do not hesitate to report suspicious behavious to the police, dial 999 to do this.<br /><br />5 Try to get a description of the offenders and any vehicle they may be using.<br /><br />6 You can arrange a secret password with most of the Public Utility Companies. Please, keep this circulating.. You walk across the car park, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine put it into Reverse.<br /><br />When you look into the rear-view mirror to back out of your space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you stop and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.  When you reach the back of your car, that is when the car-jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically run you over as they speed off in your car.<br /><br />And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.<br />So now the car-jacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!<br /><br />BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.<br /><br />If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, lock your doors and just drive away. This has ruined about &pound;300 worth of sports equipment, outdoor umbrellas and gardening supplies.  Not to mention the time we now have to spend cleaning up the mess.  Pre-school is a charity and we cannot bear the costs of these sorts of losses.<br />It has been reported to the Police but whoever did it must have had paint all over their hands at the very least.  Would you be able to send a message round on the neighbourhood watch email asking if anybody has had their child come home with paint on them or if anybody knows anything about it.  The paint was cream and the incident happened sometime last week (we think Wednesday or Thursday night, but it was definitely between Monday and Thursday night). <br /><br />If anyone knows anything about this serious, mindless, vandalism or suspects a person or persons may have been involved, would they please contact Leicestershire Police on 0116 222 2222.
